Custardy, flaky, buttery – they're a traditional Portuguese treat with a brand-new recipe.
And a new name. To celebrate its heritage, we’ve renamed it a Pastel de Nata. But it’s still just as naughty.
What is a Pastel de Nata?
It’s a Portuguese custard tart made with crisp, flaky pastry and a creamy egg filling.
And it goes way back in history. Originally from Belém in Lisbon, it was created by monks in the 18th century. Now the sweet treats are eaten all over the world.
