Our response to the Mail on Sunday article about ice machines, 2nd June 2013

Those of you who know us well, know that we take any question to do with health and safety incredibly seriously.  Our entire focus is to ensure we give you a great restaurant experience and that means serving great-tasting food in the right environment.

Importantly, the results confirm that there was no health and safety issue for our customers.

All our staff are trained in maintaining the ice machines which includes a clean at the end of each day.  In addition, we use independent consultants who run operational checks to ensure that we fully conform to food safety regulations.  Our Basingstoke restaurant was last visited by the external company which maintains the ice machine on 17 May for a check and clean and inspection in line with the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Despite requesting it, we have still not been shown a full copy of the report. We therefore wrote to the Mail on Sunday expressing our concern that the results might be published in a misleading fashion and gave six reasons why we do not accept the conclusions.  As a precaution we have instigated a full review of this restaurant.
